We are pleased to announce our esteemed panel of seven judges which have been chosen from each region across North America.
Known to many from IFC's "Whisker Wars" and a veteran of the competitive bearding world since the mid-2000s, Aarne Bielefeldt is a vice president on the Alliance Executive Board and founder of the Terminal Length Beard Club.
Hailing from Germany, but calling the woods of Northern California home, his ties and history with the European beard and moustache clubs run deep. Aarne has judged at numerous competitions throughout the U.S. and has competed in every World Beard & Moustache Championship since 2009, placing in both Germany (2013) & Austria (2015).
He has a keen eye for details and precision, as evidenced by his freestyle designs, and enjoys the utmost friendship and respect with all that are part of this community.

Representing the Great White North is our new judge, the Chief Caretaker of Beard Team Canada, Darrell Crawford!
Often heralded by the arrival of the big red Beard Team Canada truck, Darrell competed at the World Beard & Moustache Championship in Anchorage (2009) and Trondheim (2011).
He's competed and judged at countless competitions across the continent over the years. Canada's 150th birthday is in 2017, so look out for some big bearding plans from up north!

As the president and co-founder of the Austin Facial Hair Club, Bryan and his club played a central role on IFC's "Whisker Wars" in bringing facial hair competitions to the general public.
Bryan also serves as a vice president of the World Beard and Moustache Association (WBMA) and a vice president of the North American Competitive Beard and Moustache Alliance (NACBMA). He first participated in the World Beard and Moustache Championship in Alaska (2009) and has returned for every one since, including placing in Full Beard Natural in Germany (2013).
With a competitive bearding resume of judging and competing nearly as long as his own red beard, back home you can find Bryan on stage behind a bass guitar or in front of the keyboards of his typewriter collection.
Chad is the president and founder of the RVA Beard League in Richmond, Virginia, and the current president of NACBMA.
A competitive beardsmith since 2011, Chad has taken home a number of titles over the years, and competed at the World Beard & Moustache Championship in Leogang, Austria (2015). You can catch him as an extra in Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning movie "Lincoln," and in the 2015 edition of Ripley's Believe It Or Not!
With plenty of experience on both sides of the judges’ table, he stands by the American competitive bearding traditions of raising funds for local charities, the participation by all who support facial hair (especially Whiskerinas), and most of all enjoying a few beers with friends from far flung places.

Our next judge calls Washington state’s Puget Sound home. She has been a mainstay at the World Beard & Moustache Championship, having attended *every* WBMC since 1997.
She also served as a judge at three of them: England (2007), Alaska (2009), and Norway (2011). Everyone, please welcome Tommie Roe to our judging panel!

Paul Roof is the Commander of the Holy City Beard & Moustache Society in Charleston, South Carolina. The Holy City Beard & Moustache Society was founded in 2007 & since 2010 has hosted the Southeastern Beard & Moustache Championships which has raised $58,000 for local charities.
Paul has competed in the World Beard & Moustache Championship in Alaska (2009), Norway (2011), Germany (2013) & Austria (2015). He was traveled to beard & moustache competitions as a competitor & judge in 17 states, is a 3 time best in show winner & holds numerous awards in freestyle, full beard styled moustache & full beard under 12.
You probably know him best as the Beer Can Professor as his image is used on the craft beer can Chucktown Follicle Brown which is brewed by Holy City Brewing. He is also an adjunct sociology professor at the College of Charleston.

Representing the Centennial State, our other new judge is Tobin Voggesser.
He's the current President of the Boulder Facial Hair Club, and helped co-found it back in 2012.
As it turns out, he will be our second ginger beard on our judging panel. Tobin's discriminating eye comes in handy whether judging at beard competitions or shooting photos and video of bands performing at the nearby iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater, and across the country.
